CD Packaging Design
The 9th Degree
Here we had to design packaging for a CD. It could be a DVD, music CD, anything on a CD. I made up a movie called The 9th Degree. The movie was about the life a Japanese peasant warrior dating from about 1000AD.
I was taking an East Asian art history class at the time and was very inspired by the artwork we were studying. I wanted to incorporate this kind of imagery with my corporate/clean/grid style.
I used a few different textures for the backgrounds and different layers of transparency to create a mystical, transcendental feel. With no words besides the title, I wanted the imagery to tell the story instead of filling up the design with descriptions and bar-codes. |
